The only way I managed to do decently well in the class was by doing countless practice mechanism reactions to the point where I memorized them. Trying to decide whether I should do Chem 14C or Phys 5A with those classes. If you can get someone's past lab reports, the class is pretty lig 14b and 14bl have plenty of overlap in terms of lecture material and honestly ls7c and physics can be brutal if i were you i would definitely take 14bl with 7b and 14b, instead of with ls7c and 5a; you dont want to be spending time on busy work prelabs/postlabs when youre taking 7c and 5a 7C is probably the most interesting and easiest of the 3, although it can be dense with readings. Chem 14A (and Chem 20A) is a bit notorious in that you have a huge fucking disparity between incoming high school students in their math and science backgrounds (I've tutored 14A students that didn't know what logarithms were). 7C is more memorization and understanding concepts and being able to analyze charts.
